Matt Schickele is a musician from New York City whose writing pulls him to many genres, including rock, concert, and folk music. As a songwriter, his numerous releases include Lion Air, April/November, and Cities Filled With Lights. He also writes for and plays with the M Shanghai String Band (Red Parlor Records), an acoustic old-time-music outfit. He has toured as a solo artist, with his '90s rock trio Beekeeper (Southern Records), and as a guest guitarist for Babe the blue OX (RCA Records). Matt's concert music has been performed by the Da Capo Chamber Players, the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, among others. He is a graduate of Bard College, where he studied composition with Joan Tower. He lives in Ridgewood, Queens.
